Sedo acquires RevenueDirect

Domain marketplace Sedo has acquired a domain parking service RevenueDirect, previously owned by Dotster. This acquisition increases Sedo’s North American market share of domain services due to RevenueDirect’s large inventory and registrar presence. In exchange, RevenueDirect customers will be able to use Sedo’s monetization features.

Intel’s $7 billion server renovation

A new $7 billion initiative to optimize its Nehalem server line has been announced by Intel. The company hopes to revamp a cloud computing motherboard that consumes only 85 watts in idle mode, which could save up to $8 billion in three years if deployed on 50,000 servers.

Teraco’s new data center in South Africa

Teraco has opened a data center in Cape Town, South Africa. It is the first vendor neutral data center in Cape Town and it also the first of its kind in the country. In the past, outsourced data center facilities in South Africa have been supplied by large IT outsourcing companies and ISPs.

Domain registrar Go Daddy has expanded their Science & Technology complex at Scottsdale Airpark by 21,000 square foot. NetHosted launches VPS hosting

NetHosted is now offering unmanaged or managed VPS products and services, which narrows the gap between the reseller and dedicated server offerings from the company. The VPS line includes WebHost Manager and cPanel. UK2 Group launched a beta trial of VPS.NET earlier this month.
